Mission Statement
The mission of BadgerThon is to support the patients and families of the American Family Children’s Hospital by providing financial support, friendship and recognition.
The Organization
BadgerThon is a philanthropic student organization at the University of Wisconsin – Madison that benefits the American Family Children’s Hospital (AFCH). Throughout the year, BadgerThon hosts events to raise awareness and funds for the cause. The progress from each year is celebrated and presented to AFCH at the final event of the year, the BadgerThon Dance Marathon. This is a 15-hour event during which participants stay standing in order to show their support for the patients and families putting up a fight at AFCH and to remember those children who are now dancing in our hearts. Participants raise money all year through pledging their commitment to the cause and receiving donations from family, friends and sponsors in return. Throughout the event, participants experience performances from various UW-Madison student groups, visits from UW-Madison athletes, professors, administration, and the school’s very own Bucky Badger. Hospital families and faculty also attend the Dance Marathon to get to know the students, share their stories, and to remind everyone involved why the cause is so important.
