McKenzie Borkovec
Position: Senior Director
Hometown: Muskego, WI
Year in School: Senior
Major: Neurobiology, Certificate in Global Health
Why Do You Dance?: “I dance for the kids who can do nothing but fight and keep smiling. Part of being a kid is having no responsibilities, no worries, just laughing and playing. The children at AFCH have to go through more than a child ever should. There are so many who stay strong and positive through it all, and I just want to help them fight in whatever way that I can.”

Haley Bird

Position: Junior Director, Recruitment Team Chair
Hometown: Verona, WI
Year in School: Junior
Major:  Pre-nursing, Certificate in Gerontology
Why you dance: “ I dance for the parents and children I have met while volunteering at the Children’s Hospital at Family Dinners.  I know how wonderful the Child Life program is at making it possible for kids to be kids at the Hospital because I have family friends who frequently visit the hospital.  Great physicians, nurses, and the Child Life program make the hospital a bearable place when it is usually the worst time for families. #FBK”

Jordan Hoffman
Position: Fundraising Team Chair
Hometown: Janesville, WI
Year in School: Junior
Major: Nursing
Why Do You Dance?: I dance because I love children and I want to help others. I dance for the children that can’t. I can only imagine the effects of being hospitalized as a child, and I want to help ensure that children and families have an awesome experience during their hospital stay. It is so inspiring to hear the stories of the children and families that have experienced the American Family Children’s Hospital first hand. BadgerThon dance marathon is such a rewarding night. When you see the total reveal at the end of the event, it really hits you that you played a part in directly helping these families and the children. I dance for Bucky’s Kids!”

Liz Bruzas
Position: Fundraising Coordinator

Why Do You Dance?: I dance for those who cannot. These children have the heart and ambition to fight so that someday they will be able to dance. It is inspiring to see such great hope in these young children. One part of BadgerThon’s mission that resonates with me the most is providing support to families as well as the patients. After participating in many family dinners, I can see that these families are in a very desperate time, and they appreciate the support of BadgerThon and the AFCH staff.”

Why Do You Dance?: “I dance for the kids but I also dance for the hospital. When you walk into AFCH, it doesn’t feel like you’re walking into a hospital, and for a little kid that is the best thing in the world. Having some of the best medical treatment in the country while making sure kids feel comfortable and safe is why AFCH  is the best. So I dance for the hospital, I dance for the families, but most importantly I dance FOR BUCKY’S KIDS!”

I also dance for these children’s families who have had to watch their kids suffer every day and not being able to do anything about it. Lastly, I dance for all of the children who have lost their battle at AFCH in hope that new cures and technology become available to help save numerous children’s lives in the future.”
