Dance Marathon 2016

BadgerThon Dance Marathon 2016 was held on March 11th-12th from 5pm-8am at Varsity Hall in Union South. Thanks to our dedicated dancers, generous sponsors, and countless supporters both on and off campus, BadgerThon Dance Marathon 2016 had a record breaking year! The number of registered dancers more than doubled from 170 at DM 2015 to 364 dancers at DM 2016. In addition to the increased student involvement, BadgerThon and the UW campus also raised the highest amount in history for the American Family Children’s Hospital: $95,599.37!

Similar to DM 2015, there were many new aspects brought to the event. The Jacob Martin Band entertained with their country vibes, and Piano Fondue serenaded students in the early morning hours. Both were a hit and we look forward to incorporating more live music and entertainment into Dance Marathon 2017! Dancers were also able to put their friends in DM Jail – a new addition to Dance Marathon that was enjoyed by all! DM 2016 total

AFCH Day 2015

Come join us Tuesday, September 15th from 5:30 – 7:00 pm for a free pizza dinner and tour of the American Family Children’s Hospital!

Bus routes 80 (free), 28, 38, 10, and 2 all go to UW Hospital and Clinics. We will meet on the outdoor patio right outside the main entrance to the hospital.

AFCH Day is open to all UW students! Please reserve a spot here.

: Karen Patterson, a faculty member of the UW-Madison Physical Therapy Program, presented “Go Baby Go”, a project that is a result of the collaboration between physical therapy students and engineering students to create mobile cars for children with Spinal Muscular Atrophy.

: Chancellor Becky Blank was unable to make an appearance, but made a video full of words of encouragement for the students.

: The UW Marching Band visited during Patient and Family Hours.

: Patients and students alike enjoyed playing on the inflatable Twister board and bungee basketball game!

: Wisconsin Surma performed, along with two other student performance groups.

: Hypnotiq, a UW student hip-hop dance group, performed in addition to two other student performance groups.

: Redefined, a UW student A Cappella group, performed in addition to two other student performance groups.

: UW Student Athletes spent their Friday night with the students and the AFCH patients and families.

: The memorial for the children who passed away at the American Family Children’s Hospital in 2014 was held around 12:30am.

Mini Dance Marathons

7th Annual Trot 4 Tots 5K Run / Walk

Each year, UW Aspiring Nurses Association and Health Occupations Students of America – UW come together to plan this great event for our community to benefit the patients and families at the American Family Children’s Hospital.

The 7th Annual Trot 4 Tots 5K Run / Walk will be Sunday, April 12th at the UW Natatorium. Check-in and Day-of Registration begins at 8:30am and the race starts at 10am.

All proceeds from the event benefit the Child Life Program, which is dedicated to helping patients and their families cope with the fear and anxiety associated with the medical environment with an overall goal of promoting positive experiences for children and families throughout hospitalization.

It’s a Wrap: BadgerThon Dance Marathon 2015

BadgerThon Dance Marathon 2015 was a huge success! Over the past year, the University of Wisconsin – Madison campus has raised $65,398.73 For Bucky’s Kids at the American Family Children’s Hospital! Students, UW Administration, and AFCH Administration came together to celebrate the hard work of the UW – Madison campus throughout the year and also had the opportunity to meet some of the amazing patients and families that benefit from their hard work.

Winter Break Fundraising

Once the fall semester has wrapped up and you are able to relax, consider focusing your spare time on fundraising to reach your BadgerThon Dance Marathon goal!

Every participant who is registered and has raised at least $100 by January 1, 2015 will be entered to win a set of 3 day passes to the Kalahari Resort in the Wisconsin Dells! Four individuals will be receiving this prize, so chances are pretty high that one could be you.
